Our third Contemplative Photography workshop with instructor County Photographer Phil Norton and guest co-presenter, Liz Bourgeois from Kingston.
Phil has been leading outings and workshops in PEC since 2012 and has been based here as a photographer since 2007.
Contemplative Photography is a new way of seeing for many, but actually an old way we all did when we started out as film photographers when you had to think before spending the money to shoot.
With digital photography we tend to take photos without a thoughtful approach and edit the hundreds of images later.
This workshop is for the photographer, artist and non-photographer who is seeking a fresh approach to interacting with the world, be it human, nature or inanimate subjects. We will look at images and discuss slowing down and being mindful of everyday things.
Liz is the kind of artist you should be exposed to, who offers us a different point-of-view and who goes deep inside herself resulting in creative visual expression. She is a long-time County Outings and PhotographyAdventures.net participant, traveling with us on weekend and week-long trips throughout Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland.
The discussion may get philosophical as we go “deep” in order to shake up the way you’re taking pictures now and introduce a new way of seeing everyday things and approaching subjects in a relational way whether they are inanimate or human or in the world of nature.
This is an opportunity to meet new photographers and come in out of the cold for an afternoon looking at each others’ images on the big screen and sharing experiences and some technical tips.
Meet at the County Photographer home studio in centre-ville Picton from 12:30 to 4:30. Snacks and drinks and tax included. Limited to 8 participants.
A liability waiver must be signed too.
