VENUE: Baxter Arts Centre, 3 Stanley Street, Bloomfield, Ontario K0K 1G0
Dance is recognized as a way to keep fit, stay balanced, flexible and mobile and acknowledged for its power to stimulate memory and overall brain function. Claudia Moore, Artistic Director of MOonhORsE Dance Theatre and Carol Anderson, Professor Emerita, York University will share their experiences and activities as dance artists in community and professional settings. For both artists, dance has a far greater scope and significance than theatrical presentation alone.
A section of gravity/grace/fall titled Labyrinth, with original poetry written and read by Carol and performance by Claudia will form part of the presentation. A presentation on the benefits of dance will include a voluntary pre-show audience warm up a brief Gyrokinesis practice, which is performed seated or standing. This is included to provide a movement experience for audience members.
