“Sifting Sands”… four beach cleanup days during the summer, all held opposite Currah’s on the Outlet Beach

Join the Friends for this two-hour beach clean-up event. Every year, nearly 10,000 tons of plastic pollute the Great Lakes. Because of the geography of the Sandbanks, the beach acts as a giant net for much of that upstream waste.

The Friends of Sandbanks are sponsoring several days of beach cleanup.

This is the Park’s Blue Flag Beach. They do a wonderful job of keeping it free of the larger plastic and garbage; our efforts will be focused on cleaning the smaller items, like water bottle caps and plastic cigarillo tips that are ubiquitous on all Lake Ontario beaches.
