Festival Players will open our new Studio Theatre on Main Street Wellington with a new production of The Drawer Boy by Michael Healey. When young Miles visits the rural Ontario home of Morgan and Angus to research farm life for a new play, he unintentionally awakens the dark memories of their past.
Directed by Graham Abbey (Festival Players Artistic Director, Groundling Theatre, Stratford Festival), this production will feature Canadian theatre veterans Benedict Campbell (Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival, National Arts Centre) and John Dolan (Stratford Festival, four-time Dora Award nominee) and one of Toronto’s most exciting young actors Marcel Stewart (Soulpepper, Mirvish, Obsidian Theatre) performing on the intimate Studio Theatre stage. An iconic Canadian script, The Drawer Boy won the Dora Award, Chalmers Award and Governor General’s Award for best play.
Join us for a special appearance by playwright Michael Healey on Monday August 13th 7:30 pm for a script reading and Q&A (RSVP required)
