There are lots of winter-time activities to choose from! Cross country skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, hockey, curling and skating … Or, just cozy up by a roaring fire with some good food, good wine and good friends!

  • X-COUNTRY SKIING
    For cross-country skiiers, Sandbanks Provincial Park has 10 kms of trails, and Macaulay Mountain conservation area has 11 km. Or, try snowshoeing the frozen dunes for an uncommon view of a popular beach.
  • ICE FISHING
    Test your mettle as the mercury goes down with some ice fishing. The Bay of Quinte is one of the top walleye fishing spots in the world. Several local businesses offer ice-fishing packages and accommodation packages.
  • HOCKEY
    The County loves its hockey!  The Wellington Dukes are a Junior “A” ice hockey team from Wellington.  The Picton Pirates are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Picton.
  • ICE SKATING
    The County offers 2 rinks with public skating, and Wellington also has an outdoor rink.
  • CURLING
    Join in on the fun at Prince Edward Curling Club.
  • FITNESS & AQUATICS
    Prince Edward Fitness & Aquatic (PEFAC) facility provides recreational, physical, therapeutic and social opportunities for all ages and abilities.
  • INDOOR WALKING PROGRAMS
    Keep active even in cold weather with indoor walking programs at P.E.C.I. , Wellington Community Centre indoor track, or Community Care for Seniors programs.

    The Walleye World Fishing Derby is a live release event the first weekend in May. Big fish to catch and big prizes to be won.  Bay of Quinte is known as the “Walleye Capital of the World”.
  • Terroir Wine Celebration  (May)
    TerroirPrince Edward County’s wineries serve their own unique county-produced wines, featuring the new spring releases.
  • Spring Birding Festival (May  )
    Weekend activities include workshops on birding, insects, wildflowers and photography with a hospitality tent where visitors can post sightings, share information and just hang out.
  • Quarter Moon Coffeehouse in Bloomfield (May-Sept)
    The anything-goes, everybody-welcome open stage coffee house returns for another summer of music every other Thursday evening.
  • Welcome Weekend (May)
    Opening weekend for The County Museums for the season. “Loyalist Encampment” Event.
  • Antique Show and Sale at the Crystal Palace in Picton   (May)
  • Quinte’s Isle Bluegrass Celebration (May 25-27, 2018)
    Featuring local, regional and national bands, bringing together the finest in bluegrass music.. Join us for a weekend of music, food, jamming, fun and friendship.
  • Terroir Run (May). 11k run among the winery back roads.
  • Great Canadian Cheese Festival (June 2 & 3, 2018)
    The best cheesemakers from P.E.I. to Vancouver Island offer cheeses to taste and buy at the only pan-Canadian showcase of artisan cheese.
  • Art in the County (June to July)
    Original works by County artists and artisans at this annual juried exhibition and show hosted by the PEC Arts Council. Enjoy paintings, photographs, jewellery, sculpture, fibre arts and glass.
